TRIVIAL PURSUIT
I'm trying to set the Timer for two players, each with a maximum turn time
as well as a total time for all turns. As you know, if a player answers a
question correctly he has another turn - but I can't work out how to simply
restart the same player's turn.
Also, I can't work out how to simply re-start a game.

Since you are using both a total time and individual times the only
way
to give another turn with a new full amount of turn time is to include
a few seconds of delay between turns ( set in Mode 9 ), which you
probably do anyway for asking questions. Now lets imagine player two
has
answered the question correctly with time remaining. Press the big
blue
key which will make the timer switch back to player one, and immediately
press the pause key twice. The G8 will be back at player two and ready
to start. Press the blue key again to start player two's delay counting
down. Once you have asked player two his new question you can press
the
blue key again to over ride the rest of the delay.
Unfortunately this sounds complex, but try it a few times and it will
become easier. I would be happy to share the gory design details if
you
like and why this issue conflicted with something else so no easy
solution was possible.
To restart a game easily you must save all the information in either
memory A or B. After setting the delay time in mode 9 you have to
press
the mode key until you get back to mode 8. Select A or B memory using
the plus key and then press the clock key. Now everything, including
the
delay is saved, even if you turn off the power. To restart a new game
easily, turn off the G8 and then turn it back on, you have to hold
the
on/off key for three seconds. The G8 will restart in mode 8. Select
the
memory where you saved the initial settings and press the blue key.
All
the data will be transferred to the playing memory. Press the mode
key
twice to select mode 0 and you are ready to start a new game.
Please feel free to e-mail me anytime for further help. It might
be a
little confusing at first, but it is easier to program than the vcr.
Also, since this is a unique set of timing requirements, please let
me
know the settings you use for Trivial Pursuit so I can list them on
our
web site to help others.
Best regards and thanks
