About

DREAM GREEN, a Weirton West Virginia USA based educational game company, was founded in January 1991 by Sharon Davis Green, a Weirton native, and her husband, Don Green, originally from Cape Town, South Africa.
Both led interesting lives prior to DREAM GREEN. Sharon worked as the assistant to a former head of ITT/Sheraton Hotel Corporation; was the founder and director of The Music School at the Emporium, a traditional music school in Cambridge MA, and head of the Schneider-Davis Agency, a booking agency specializing in North American tours for world renowned Celtic and British musicians. She also performed as a folk singer and dancer but her only appearance in Rolling Stone was atop a BOSE 501 speaker in their first print advertisement.
Don left South Africa after serving as a medic in the SA army and studying marketing, computers and engineering. He's worked as a commercial fisherman from the North Sea, the coast of Norway, northern Greenland and around Australia where he received his commercial sea captains ticket from the New South Wales government. Don also worked as an engineer on the Victoria Station project in London. He's also a certified FAA airplane mechanic and pilot and the editor of the local Experimental Aircraft Association chapter #859 newsletter. They're also building a plane.
What began as an outlet for their creative forces has blossomed into a company which has received numerous awards and accolades for their innovative educational products. In the past few years their games have been honored by GAMES Magazine, DR. TOY, The Canadian Toy Testing Council, the National Association for Gifted Children, the National Parenting Publications, Creative Child Magazine, Today's Parent Magazine and many others. And DREAM GREEN was given the 2003 Outstanding Toy Manufacturer Recognition of Excellence by DR. TOY. The games have also been featured in DISCOVER, ESQUIRE, LEARNING, TEACHING pre-K - 8, FAMILY FUN and many other magazines and are used in thousands of classrooms across the United States and abroad.
In addition to creating games that both educate and entertain, Sharon and Don also lecture on the creative learning aspects of their products. They have presented workshops at the state, regional and national level for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the National Association for Gifted Children as well as participated in Games in Education seminars for the Game Manufacturers Association at their annual ORIGINS Convention. Unfortunately Don suffers from chronic hereditary Rheumatoid Arthritis of the spine, a very painful condition that now severely limits his once abundant energy.
They have donated over ten thousand games to many special needs programs including the Marines "Toys For Tots" and to Feed The Children.
